Board of Directors
Kim Kraus
President

Kim is the Technical Training Specialist for Central Technology Services, Inc. in Jefferson City.  She is fairly new to the corporate training field, but a veteran teacher.  She taught Jr. High for sixteen years and served as the school’s technology coordinator for ten years. 

Kim holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a major in elementary education.  Kim received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Mary University.  Besides being a member of the Central Missouri Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development, she is also a national member. 

 

As President of the local chapter, Kim’s goal is to efficiently lead the chapter to have a positive impact on the membership.   


Karen Wilms
Past President

Karen is the Manager of Employee Training for Shelter Insurance Companies based in Columbia.  She has oversight for employee skills training, Claims technical training, and leadership development.  She's been with Shelter 36 years starting in Underwriting and later moving to Corporate Training where she served as a trainer and then Manager of Sales Training before becoming the Manager of Employee Training in 2000.

Karen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from
StephensCollege as well as several professional insurance designations.  She is a member of Women’s Network and serves on the Changing the Odds committee.  Other memberships include the Central MO Chapter of the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters, Society of Financial Services Professionals, and the Society of Insurance Trainers & Educators.  She served for several years on the Stephens College Alumnae Board and currently volunteers at the Central MO Food Bank. 

As Past President, Karen’s goal is to help facilitate the professional development of current and potential members and continue to strengthen the chapter’s working relationship with national ASTD.   Learning is a lifelong process and ASTD provides excellent growth opportunities for all training and development professionals.  Combine continuous learning with exceptional networking experiences and you'll know what Karen appreciates about ASTD.


Angela Alexander
President-Elect

Angela is Training and Development Officer at Premier Bank in Jefferson City.  She has been with Premier Bank for 4 years-spending the last 3 launching the Training and Development program.  This program addresses training needs in job skills, banking regulation, as well as professional development and leadership.

 


Tracy Fetters
VP-Communications

Tracy is the Training coordinator ABC Laboratories in Columbia, Missouri.  She has worked for ABC Laboratories for seven years, starting as a Material Compliance Officer and later moving to the manager of the Material Compliance group, she has served in her role as Training Coordinator since 2005.  Prior to coming to ABC Laboratories, Tracy spent 20 years in the Social Service Field working for Advent Enterprises in their supported employment program and then as a case manager for the Department of Health.

Tracy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology, from Stephens College.  She is a member of Women's Network as well as the central Missouri Chapter and National Chapter of the Americal Society of Training and Development.  She works with the AWANA program through her church and sings in the church choir. 


Lisa Knipp
VP Finance

Lisa is the Education Specialist, Trainer for Infocrossing HealthCare Services in Jefferson City, Missouri.  She has been in the training field for the past 14 years.

Lisa holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Missouri University, Warrensburg, with a major in Business Administration and Marketing.  She is a member of TiptonEttes, a civic organization in Tipton. She co-teaches Sunday School and is on the Shower Committee at her church.

Kirby Cameron
VP-Membership

Kirby Cameron is a Training & Development Specialist for Shelter Insurance Companies in Columbia, with a focus on employee and management development programs.  He started with Shelter in 1986 and has served in Underwriting, Training, Human Resources, and Planning & Research positions.  Prior to Shelter, Kirby's professional career included coaching, sales and human resources management positions.

Kirby is a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Education.  He is the chairperson for Shelter Cares, the volunteer committee for Shelter Insurance Companies, holding this position for the past nine years.  He serves as an advisory board member for the University of Missouri's Business Career Services and is involved in community outreach programs such as Cleanup Columbia, Live United Team project, Columbia Bike Safety Event , Salvation Army bell ringing, and Central MO Food Bank.

As Vice President of Membership, Kirby's goal is share the benefits of the chapter to area training and development professionals and visit with current and potential members about ways to enhance the enrollment and membership process.


Jason Herman
VP Professional Development

Jason Herman is a development specialist for State Farm Insurance in Columbia, with a focus on leadership development and succession management. He has been at State Farm for seven years, working as an Auto Claims Adjuster before joining Learning & Development three years ago. Prior to State Farm, he taught junior high school for four years.

Jason holds a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is President of the Columbia Basketball Official's Association focused on educating and training new officials. He also co-chairs two annual charity drives for his church. A member of the local ASTD group since 2006, Jason is looking to get more involved with the leadership of the chapter and feels this will be a good way to get started. He is committed to lifelong learning whether it be workplace skills, a new hobby or taking a class.


Barbara Beermann
Member-at-Large

Barbara is Senior Training & Education Specialist with the Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System (MOSERS), serving active and retired members from most state agencies and a number of colleges and universities in Missouri.  Including previous public and non-profit employment, she has more than 20 years experience in education and communications.

She holds a degree from Mizzou, is a member of the National Pension Education Association, and earned the Certificate of Achievement in Public Plan Policy for retirement from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.  Barbara is also certified by Langevin Learning Services, the international train-the-trainer organization, as Training Manager/Director, Training Instructor/Facilitator, and Training Designer/Developer.  She received the Institute for Children’s Literature writing credential and completed the Family Life Institute program through her church.

A member since 2001, this is her third term as a Member-at-Large.  Barbara’s greatest professional satisfaction is derived from helping people understand their benefits.


Janel Schnieders
Member-at-Large

Janel Schnieders is the Learning and Development Specialist at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. In this role, Janel primarily facilitates Peer Interview Training, ACE Training, the School at Work program and New Employee Orientation.  Janel also serves on the Education Council, Service Excellence Team, Education Roundtable and Organizational Development Roundtable for both the local and corporate levels of SSM Health Care. 

Prior to St. Mary’s, Janel was the Human Resources Manager for Infocrossing, Inc. and Training Manager for Central Technology Services, Inc. Janel was a two-year Examiner for the Missouri Quality Award and is also a certified Change Agent.  
 
As a graduate of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Jefferson City program, Janel continues to serve on Chamber committees. Additionally, Janel has served on various board positions, including President and VP of Membership for the Central Missouri Chapter of American Society for Training and Development. 
 
Janel invites all local chapter members to join her in having the “power of two” by maintaining memberships with both the local and national chapters of American Society for Training and Development. 

Geri Wiseman
Member-at-Large

Geri has over 16 years of experience in training and development, including producing training videos for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Aurora, Colorado.   She specializes in training programs that focus on leadership, communication and workplace skills.  Geri holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Education, with an emphasis in Instructional Technology; both from Drury University. 

Geri is employed by the Missouri Department of Conservation as the Training and Development Coordinator where she plans, develops and conducts Department-wide training to promote staff development and professional growth through the Department’s Academy for Leadership Excellence.  Geri is the co-chair of Missouri’s State Training Advisory Council (STAC).  She has certifications from AchieveGlobal in “Creating Stellar Customer Relations” and FranklinCovey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. 

Geri’s mission is to help others achieve positive outcomes and results by focusing on communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
